Digital Means Clear, Clean Choices

LAS VEGAS –January 5, 2006 – Visteon Corporation (NYSE: VC) is the first automotive supplier to bring HD Radio™ into North American vehicles.  Building upon that technology, Visteon is demonstrating a feature of HD Radio that enables reception of multiple programs from a single station – multicasting. This real-time multicasting prototype is being demonstrated at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Jan. 5-8; booth number CP7 in the Central Plaza.

HD Radio technology enables AM and FM radio stations to broadcast their programs digitally – enhancing sound quality and reception. Multicasting can generate several different broadcast streams per HD Radio-supported channel.

“This is a huge technological advancement,” said Steve Meszaros, vice president Visteon electronics. “Digital broadcasting provides listeners with improved audio quality and reception, and the development of multicasting will give listeners options they’ve never had before.”

Visteon and BMW were first to put factory-install HD Radio on the road in the 2006 BMW 6- and 7-Series sedans. The BMW models use Visteon's HD Radio™ receiver which delivers high-definition sound via digital AM and FM broadcasts. Data, such as displayed song and artist information, is also provided by the system.

Visteon’s expertise in MACH® Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology and related patents has enabled the global automotive supplier to achieve a leadership role in developing HD Radio products for the automotive industry. And Visteon's DSP technology has provided an important development platform for iBiquity Digital Corporation, the inventor of HD Radio.

More than 500 radio stations now broadcast HD signals in the U.S.
